Daryl after leaving high school records current today,Brown walked onto the Washington State university practice squad.Nicknamed “Lincoln”for his hard hits and ability to switch smoothly between half and full back positions.That team played in the ‘81 Holiday Bowl.Lincoln unsuccessfully tried out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks.
recruited by Richard Harris to play on the newly founded Bellevue Express, Lincoln again playing both back positions was soon renamed “The Bull”. Number 32 became known throughout the league for his ability to get the extra yard, even if that meant carrying defenders on his back. His explosive hard running styl and hole opening blocking up the middle inspired his likeness on the promotional poster for the ‘85 Eastside Express schedule.
With the addition of Skip Delaney as tailback, the ’88 Championship backfield had two of the top three running backs in the league. Most of the Bull’s hard earned yards came between the tackles. Coupled with great receivers and practicing against the number 1 defensive, they ruled the league that year.
The Bull became Head coach/player for the Snohomish County Blue knights and later coached D line and running backs with the Renton Chiefs after retiring from the Seattle/Tacoma Express in ‘90.
For 32 years the Bull coached at the levels of the game gaining WIAA Certification and being identified nationally as a Certified USA Football Coach working with youth leagues and high schools from the Eastside through the Rainier Beach area. He additionally taught chess, self-defense and coached high school track and field athletes.
Raising a successful family of four , he was nominated and served on numerous committees, working personally through special appointments with four Seattle Public School Superintendents and Rainier Scholars aimed at programs identifying, addressing and creating equality for high achieving minority students in public schools.
